Owing to ovewhelming demand for individual therapy, I am currently no longer offering group work
Group Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
Sessions to be held in Chelmsford, Essex. Every Tuesday
beginning 7 January 2017
Each session starts at 7pm finishing at 9.30pm (refreshments provided) — ideal for those who work during the day.
The overall objective of this programme is to teach you how to reduce your pain and misery through the use of specific skills.
The programme is taught in group, in Chelmsford, Essex, with optional, additional individual sessions available.
Sessions are run by a team of qualified Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) therapists with particular experience in treating those with Borderline Personality and other severe mood and personality disorders. The team is led by Amanda Watson
"At last, treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder with Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is accessible, and affordable!"
In the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder programme you will learn to:
- Reduce your suicidal urges and self-harming behaviours
- Stabilise your interpersonal relationships
- Increase your level of self-respect
- Increase your problem-solving and communications skills
- Become more emotionally stable, and less emotionally reactive
- Suffer fewer personal crises
The DBT for BPD Group course follows the 'classic' Dialectical Behaviour Therapy course initiated by Marsha Linehan.
|Core Mindfulness||You are taught how to focus the mind, direct attention and how to nonjudgmentally observe and describe what you are feeling and thinking in the moment. These skills can help you develop a more stable sense of who you are, and can help reduce reactivity to painful thoughts and emotions. It also helps to prevent black-and-white thinking.|
|Distress Tolerance||We target impulsivity by teaching you how to effectively distract and soothe yourself while considering pros and cons of specific actions. These skills typically replace problem behaviors such as self-inflicted cutting, overly aggressive behaviours, and using alcohol or drugs.|
|Emotion Regulation||Together, we address extreme emotional sensitivity, rapid mood changes, and other unregulated moods such as chronic depression, anxiety, or hostility. Examples of specific skills include learning to identify and label emotions, learning how to increase positive moods, and learning how to make yourself less vulnerable to negative moods.|
|Interpersonal Effectiveness||Here we tackle difficulties in maintaining consistent and rewarding relationships by teaching skills such as how to ask for what you want, how to say no in a gentle yet effective manner, and how to maintain your sense of self-respect and independence in the face of external pressure.|
Telephone Coaching is provided for when you may feel "stuck" and unsure what to do.
The full price for this sixteen week course is £900.00. A deposit of £225.00 is payable to confirm your booking and reserve your place, with the balance due before the course starts — NOTE: there are a maximum of ten places available.
A discount of 10% is available for 'early bird' bookings, i.e. before
22 November 2016.
I strongly advise those for whom this is to be their first experience of DBT also take DBT Skills sessions on an individual basis. In most cases, these can be offered at a significant discount, if taken in conjunction with the Group course.
