Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Counselling for Depression

Location

Sessions held in Chelmsford, Essex

Purpose

The overall objective of this programme is to reverse specific symptoms of depression, including low levels of behaviour, lack of pleasure and interest, withdrawal, self-criticism and hopelessness

Intendend Results

In my Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Depression programme we will work together to:

  • Identify and correct the inaccurate thoughts that may trigger depressed feelings. Depressed people often experience negative thoughts about themselves, or their situation, or about what the future holds for them.  By working to reveal more accurate information about what's really happening we can replace this distored view of how their lives are.
  • Encourage you to take part in more enjoyable activities. When suffering from depression, it is likely you will stop participating in activities that would otherwise make you feel a lot better.  It is often the case that decreasing such activities you begin a cycle of depression, which leads to more avoidance of those things that make you feel good, leading to you feeling more depressed.
  • Improve your problem-solving and coping skills. During depression, the problems of daily life can seem insurmountable. This course will provide instruction and guidance to develop better problem-solving strategies.
